Mares OF G & I

G & I Broodmare Farm was originally established as a breeding operation in the early 80's which grew into a full show facility by the late 80's / 90's.

Our foundation broodmare Gifted Coquette was purchased in the late 70's as a second horse for the farm owners daughter to show in Juvenile three gaited. "Sally" was eventually bred to Starlike's Sultan of Leatherwood farm producing a very nice colt named Starlike's Shasta. This colt went on to show and win in the Carolina futurities in hand classes, 2 year old three gaited classes and three gaited pony classes. G & I produced a blue ribbon winning baby on it's first cross!

His full brother Starlike's Rio was also shown in the three gaited pony classes amassing an impressive 12 blues and 5 reserves at "A" Rated shows and numerous other blues at non-rated events from 1990 until 1992. He placed a very respectable 4th out of 12 ponies at the World's Championship show in 1992 in the 14-17 Three Gaited Pony qualifier. This pony was an amazing thinker at an early age and was only four years old while carrying a juvenile rider in his 3rd time in the show ring.

Our second mare Denmark's Bright Promise was also bred to Starlike's Sultan and produced a beautiful filly who we named Starlike's Aquarius. This mare was sold to Don Harris as a prospect but was injured later on and could not be shown. In 1995 this mare produced Will's Princess, a popular pleasure pony on the NC show circuit.

Bright Promise also gave us a beautiful, tall, leggy white trimmed colt by Starlike's Sultan who we named Starlike's Effervescent. "Jo Jo" was developing into a very nice five gaited prospect but received an eye injury which kept him from the showring.

Our third mare was a big, bold liver chestnut by CH Yorktown. Her name was The Camptown Lady. She gave us a very large and pretty baby who we named Preferred Lady by Preferred Property. "Preppy" went on to show in five gaited but we eventually bred her and she has produced some nice babies also - At This Moment (by our founding Stallion Snapp Street) shown in pleasure classes and Tim McGraw - 8th in 1999 at Louisville in 2 Year Old S/G Fine Harness and 7th out of 15 in 2000 at Lexington in 3 Year Old Fine Harness.

We also had the privilege of purchasing Fran Ann, a Magic Man mare who had produced noted CH and WC producing stallion The Sundrifter and the  Three Gaited Pony Mare CH My My Monica. This lovely mare was in foal to the world renowned CH and WC producing stallion Sultan's Santana but presented a difficult delivery and we lost both the mare and her exquisite colt.

One of our most recently discovered achievements was in the purchase of a mare named Our Sharp Lady in 1991. At that time this mare was in foal to the stallion Talent Town, sire of CH Yorktown Pudding, CH Talent Contest, CH Lots of Talent, WC & CH Polo Town, CH Mr. Snuffleupagus and Multi-Titled WC CH Candle Dan to name a few. The resulting baby was a filly named Storm Front. This lovely filly has since produced the 2001 World's Champion 3 Year Old 5 Gaited gelding The Echo Of Thunder who also placed 3rd in the 2006 Five Gaited World's Grand Championship and received top ribbons this year in 2008 in the Ladies 5 Gaited World's Championship classes.

The G & I broodmare string also consisted of hackney mares and one of our selected mares produced RWC Crackerjack for the 3 Year Old Cobtail Class at Louisville. This pony went on to win many blues in the cobtail division and was shown up until 2005 in Hackney Pleasure Driving winning at numerous shows or placing reserve. He still resides with us at G & I today.

During our long venture with Saddlebreds, Road Horses and Hackneys G & I has also been honored to own and show such notables as State of the Art (champion under saddle/bike road horse, 3rd at Louisville in Amateur Road Horse to Bike , triple wins at Roanoke in 1989. Reserve Under Saddle Champion at Roanoke in 1988 to outstanding crowd cheers), Speed Zone (champion under saddle/ bike road horse), Kissable Farm's Queens Command (RWC Junior 5 Gaited Stallions/Geldings), Copa Cabana (multi-titled juvenile/amateur/open road pony), Optical Illusion A.Z. (multi-titled adult pleasure horse), Marcy's Love Song (champion 5 gaited mare), Remmington (multi-titled 5 Gaited pony champion) and Second Edition (champion Harness Pony and future WC Juvenile Hackney Pleasure Driving Pony.)

Our crowning jewel of show horses was RWC CH She's An Illusion grand daughter of Multi-Titled World's Grand Champion 5 Gaited Mare Plainview's Julia and daughter of renowned stallion Sultan's Santana.

As with most Saddlebred families there comes a time of transition....the "show" kid ages out, life gets busy, grandchildren arrive and the horses always stand patiently aside waiting.....

It is with great pleasure that we announce our first two new broodmares after an eleven year hiatus that will carry us into new generations of  the horse we love....The American Saddlebred.

Le Femme Nikita - To be re-bred in 2010 for a 2011 foal

Floating On Heir - Supreme Heir x Naughty Dreams

 Le Femme Nikita

"Nikki" will be bred in 2009 for a 2010 foal. We look forward to the first baby from this large high powered  mare. She boasts loads of talent off of both ends and is thrilling under saddle.

Update: We have chosen "The Knight's Reflection" as the sire for Nikki's 2010 foal. He is a strong mix of WC, WGC, and BHF blood on both sides of his pedigree. His maternal line features the great broodmare Lifetime Affair (3rd dam), dam of CH Valley Venture, CH Lifetime Memory and CH Roz. As he stands at 16.1 hands and Nikki is over 16 hands we are hoping for a great big beautiful baby!

See him here :  https://www.asha.net/horse_files/short/116062S.pdf

After checking his pedigree top line more closely we were excited to learn that his sire's maternal side contains the dam (Julia's First Lady) of our most beloved show mare "She's An Illusion" who was a Reserve World Champion for our farm in Juvenile Three Gaited.

Nikki will be re-bred to Knight's Reflection for a 2011 foal.

Sire: High Country

Dam: Tequila Tidal Wave

 Floating On Heir

"Naughty" is currently in foal to the young stallion Thundergun from Willowbank for a 2009 foal.

 Sire: Supreme Heir

 Dam:  Naughty Dreams

Supercell

"Trouble" is our first colt born on the farm since 1996.

His sire is the young stallion Thundergun standing at Willowbank and his dam is Floating on Heir (above) by Supreme Heir.

He is a mix of Attache up top and Supreme Heir on the bottom side which seems to be a new "golden cross".

He is now almost 4 months old and has the temperament, head set and build to be a future star.

Supercell should easily top out at 16.2 hands
