Lily
|
We have rescued our first horse! A yearling Palomino filly with a single star out of a Tobiano dam and by a Perlino Stallion. She is eligible for registration through the APHA. Our first trek to a local sale and as soon as we walked into the sale arena there she was. Very poor looking, small, underweight and just plain depressed. We watched her through the whole 4 hours we were there and she was the calmest horse in the place, tied up forever but so well behaved for the situation she was in. No pawing, no dancing and no wood chewing. She was so glad to leave she loaded like a dream for a yearling (in the dark too!). She is now in QT at another facility and will be coming home to our location in thirty days. After lots of groceries and proper care she will be a stunner! She is an absolutely gorgeous color of palomino and we can't wait to see her cleaned up and healthy! (12-27-08)
Hard to tell from her photos (12-29-08), but she is quite thin under her thick coat. She is eating very well and has already become more alert. We have given her the barn name "Lily". Her manners are still impeccable for a yearling! We think she will shed out to be a darker gold.
Lily got to go out and play for the first time this past Saturday (01-24-09)....she has put on some weight and was too funny outside playing....she was snorting, floating and flagging just like a Saddlebred. We think she'll make a nice small hunter jumper or dressage prospect as she has some bounce in her trot. More pics to come soon!
Lily is now completely filled (August 09) out and has grown and really changed! She is a super mare with a great mind and is currently being worked under saddle, both English and Western and is trail riding. She is ready for a new home! |

Ellie Mae Ellie Mae, our second rescue, has just joined us at G & I. She is currently in QT at our sister facility. According to her papers she is a Tennessee Walker and around 15 years of age. Ellie's body score is approximately a 2. She is extremely thin but has a great attitude and is now on her way to recovery! Check back often for news and pictures of her progress!
